Did you know that 1 million tonnes of household textiles are currently thrown away and end up in landfill sites, what a waste of valuable resources and a sad end to the dress or shoes you once loved. By recycling, they will find a new home and be loved all over again, isn’t that a happier ending?

Did you know you can wate up to 4.5 litres of water if you leave the tap running while your brushing your teeth! Why not try using a glass of water for rinsing intead, or short bursts from the tap, and you will only need a fraction of this amount.

Make sure to turn your appliances off if you aren’t using them – items such as DVD players consume 85 percent of their total energy while on standby.

Energy and money can be saved in the easiest of places. Such as leaving your lights on when no one is in the room can be a huge waste. This is probably the easiest switch you can make. Rather than leaving a light on when you exit a room, simply switch it off. A normal bulb will use 60 watts of energy an hour, Meaning that you could conderve nearly 22,000 watts of energy per year by just switching off one bulb for one hour every day. That’s enough energy to power one month worth of evening TV viewing!
